Synopsis
The trailer starts off with seeing two characters, in which we are going to reveal that they are the main characters of the film. As we see them walking we soon realise that they are a gay couple. As the trailer continues, we soon realise that one of the partners is in a cult in which they want to kill the partner in whom is not part of the cult. We then carry on with seeing small snippets of the partner in a mask in which makes us think who the partner is(who is part of the cult). This drags us in as we want to find out which one is the one in a cult, but we soon see one of the partners running from the other.

Horror Trailer Ideas
Horror Trailer Ideas:
Idea one:
A couple are sitting on
the sofa watching a film, the husband walks of mysteriously and the wife wants
to know what is up with him. She follows him to the basement and soon finds out
that he is involved with a cult. The wife runs of scared and goes to bed. The
next day she confronts her husband, in which he gets angry and pushes her in to
their basement and locks her in. The husband gathers the rest of the cult as
they decide to sacrifice the wife. The wife tries to escape by attacking the
males around her. She tries to escape but the door is locked. Close up shot of
her face in shock.
Idea two:
A gay couple are seen
going through fields together, in which looks happy, although we get little
snippets of a man dressed in a robe. Suggests a cult. One of the men in the
couple is the leader of the cult and is trying to kill the other person. The
other man doesn’t realise what is happening until everything starts turning
over by him getting chased by his partner, although his partner finds it fun to
do this. We soon see that there is a robed man after the partner and the other
man realises that his partner is part of the cult.
Idea three:
An opening of a man
running through the field gets shot down as he is running away from something.
It then opens with a man walking through a field casually, all of a sudden he
starts to hear weird noises all around him, suggesting there is a monster
roaming in the trees. The man starts to run away but the noise gets louder and
louder the faster he runs, all of a sudden he gets hit by the monster and runs
to the nearest open field, not realising that it is private property.

Moodboard
I decided on creating a moodboard like this due to how a lot of these horror films represent the idea of the horror film that I am going to be creating. Things such as the masks and the robes identify the costumes and props that we are going to be using throughout our trailer. I also chose films in which contain a lot of jump scares or masks due to how I wanted to get an idea of how I would put all of these together in able to create a successful trailer. I also chose the films due to how I wanted to try and create the same concept of trailer that these film makers used, in which they became a success.

Marketing and Distribution
An audience can view a
movie due to the process of a film being distributed. This makes it a very
important job which has to be carefully completed; this also means a
professional film distributor will handle this job so that it is distributed
correctly. They will make the decisions about the marketing success plans by
how the newspapers, web sites, and TV are going to be shown to an audience in
which they will be able to view the movie on and the release date of movies so
that the movie can be examined and tested to see if it is suitable for home
viewing/DVD. Films can be shown to the public in different ways, whereas other
films, possibly with lower budgets will go straight to DVD release. However,
with new supporting surfaces such as Netflix and Amazon many films are being
released on to them to try and see a variety of the audience and whether it is
worth the watch or not. For both streaming and movies, film promotion is a want
for encouraging the audience to watch.
In the past, all hugely
popular movies or books were only shown in movies. However, the growth in
technology enabled television to show films to a larger audience. In 1971, videocassettes
were created, which allowed movies to become available to audiences in their
own home.
Mass-media productions
are marketed to meet their guessed number of people in whom have watched the
film. This refers to the number of people that are exposed to the marketing.
This can be accomplished through many ways such as, magazines, posters,
interviews, large boards (for posting advertising), social media and trailers. This
is based upon the amount of people that watch the film/trailer. Reach is
sometimes generalised into particular groups, such as 'female', 'children', '18-25';
this can sometimes help guess a number of how many people may go and watch or
buy the film. Reach is one of the most important statistics used in
advertising.
To accomplish a good
product without producing a lot with very little waste and to get an effective way
of marketing, companies use a marketing plan to accomplish this. A marketing
plan outlines the actions that the company will do to advertise and market
their own product. This is usually planned around a particular time, in which
enables to company to market it correctly. Within a marketing plan there will
also be a description of the current marketing position, target market they
wish to reach and what they will do in order to complete their marketing goals.
Marketing plans need to start with someone in whom uses a product created by
the company, through this they can create an effective advertising plan to meet
the target audience while making sure the company makes a good amount of money
and the feedback is given. This means a marketing plan also needs to include a
good managing of money. It sometimes also includes the strengths and weaknesses
of the company, its organisation and its products. Next to this, a distribution
plan is put in to place to help the company to find out what day they should
release their product. This is helped by the target audiences' and by looking
at how other movies of the same genre are being released. Companies need to
think hard about when they release their product due to not wanting to clash
with other companies.
Also, advertising,
promotion and being talked about a lot on TV, online, etc. are very important
factors to the marketing and distribution of a film. This is important due to
how it attracts the audience to watch the up and coming film. Newspapers, web
sites, and TV are able to help increase the film either through good or bad
press, which again brings it to the audience's attention. An example of successful marketing and distribution is The conjuring. This film was released in 2013 in America. It was predicted to produce $20 million but became a huge hit with $318 million world wide. One of the main aspects of the film, in which attracts the audience is by how it says 'Based on a true story'. This film was played in over 2903 theaters world wide on its first opening weekend and earned around $17 million on the first day of being released. It grossed in around $41.9 million and was seen as the biggest opening for an original R-rated horror film.
